Detecting & Resolving Employee Impairment Issues
This course, presented by Raven Safety Security & Storm Services (R3S), will provide supervisors the training necessary in identifying and addressing impairment issues in the workplace. Having trained supervisors in the field will result in an incalculable cost savings. You will never truly know the amount of life and property saved because of the removal of an impaired employee. Supervisors will receive the following training:
• Types and Causes of Impairment
• Alcohol Impairment
• Drug Impairment
• Drug and Alcohol Categories
• How to Document Reasonable Suspicion
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Raven Safety Security & Storm Services (R3S)
is a company comprised of military and law enforcement personnel, all with the commitment to protect and train others!
is a 25-year veteran of law enforcement and a certified instructor in Standardized Field Sobriety Test (SFST). He is also one of only a few Drug Recognition Experts (DRE) in the state of Mississippi. Kevin has served as the President of STORM (Sobriety Trained Officers Representing Mississippi), instructed Advanced Roadside Impaired Driving Enforcement (ARIDE), and has trained numerous current and former law enforcement officers across this state on the skill set R3S is willing to provide to you.
IS THIS TRAINING WITHIN REGULATION?
Yes, it is within regulation of 49 CFR Part 40. According to the employee handbook with the United States Department of Transportation for the Office of Drug and Alcohol Policy and Compliance, an employee is required to submit to any test (whether drug, alcohol or both) that a supervisor requests based on reasonable suspicion. Reasonable suspicion means that one or more TRAINED supervisors reasonably believe that you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol. They cannot require testing on a hunch or a guess. It must be based on Reasonable Suspicion by a TRAINED supervisor.
DOES THIS TRAINING REPLACE CHEMICAL TESTING?
No. If you are required to have a drug and alcohol testing program as outlined in 49 CFR Part 40, you must keep that program in place. This training gives your leadership an additional tool when trying to avoid accidents because of impairment.
