The MMA works closely with elected officials to ensure Mississippi manufacturers have the tools needed to succeed in this challenging economy. Recently, the MMA hosted a meeting with manufacturers and officials from Taiwan. How did this meeting come about? Senator Lydia Chassaniol.
Sen. Chassaniol, a Republican member of the Mississippi State Senate representing District 14, has been a longtime friend and advocate of the MMA. She was one of three legislators from Mississippi invited to attend a week-long trip to Taiwan where they visited with a number of manufacturers, medical professionals, and pioneers in the fields of robotics and artificial intelligence.
“I’m very interested in the MMA. Viking Range is in my district, and other manufacturers are in DeSoto county. Manufacturing is important to the people I represent and that’s why I wanted to be sure the folks from Taiwan could meet with some of those people.”
— Senator Lydia Chassaniol
When Sen. Chassaniol learned that a group of the Taiwanese representatives were coming to Mississippi, she immediately contacted the MMA. With her assistance, MMA, the Mississippi Development Authority, and Agriculture & Commerce Commissioner Andy Gipson were able to meet with the Taiwanese delegation to discuss the possibility of creating partnerships between Mississippi and Taiwanese companies.
Thanks to her initiative and coordination, new relationships were formed between Mississippi and Taiwan. The MMA is grateful to have allies like Sen. Chassaniol, as well as other Mississippi legislators and elected officials. Together we are building an economy where manufacturers and businesses can prosper.
