SIEMENS ENERGY WINS EPA REGION 4 2021 POLLUTION PREVENTION (P2) RECOGNITION AWARD
About
Siemens Energy implemented automation and airflow improvements related to compressed air systems and replaced the traditional roll-up doors with high-speed doors to reduce the loss of conditioned air. Together, the two projects resulted in over 260,000 kWh of annual electricity savings and 239,000 pounds of annual Co2 equivalent avoidance.
The Challenge
In 2019, Siemens Energy was motivated to reduce energy consumption internally.
MEP Center's Role
MEP Headquarters partners with the Department of Environmental Quality to provide Energy, Economy, and Environment (E3) assessments. An E3 assessment includes a range of activities, including data collection and analysis, plant observation, and consultations with management and operating personnel. E3 assessments are designed to help manufacturers with sustainability and identify opportunities to conserve energy and water, reduce waste, and achieve cost savings. The assessment led to two projects resulting in over 260,000 kWh of annual electricity savings and 239,000 pounds of annual Co2 equivalent avoidance.
Results
They completed two projects that improved process efficiency and reduced electricity use.
